The fisherman’s words / Las palabras del pescador

When fishing, the fisherman thinks of words, whispers and sonnets. When dreaming, he catches his favorite words with his fishing net.
In his dream, he knows they are words but he sees opalescent nautilus, glossy dark sperm whales and sparkling jellyfishes.
Some days the fisherman thinks about the dreams he has at night and feels the urge to release his catch. He can’t. He has to keep fishing.
He sells the fish in the market and words and sea animals mix in his head. He keeps navigating in a sea of dreams, words and sea fauna.

No hablamos del amor / We did not talk about love

No hablamos del amor
nunca
eso lo dejamos a los otros
nosotros vivimos en un lugar más cercano
más mundano, mas alegre

no hablamos del amor
nunca
nosotros vivimos en el canto alegre
de las piedras del río
en el juego del agua, en la risa

no hablamos del amor
nunca
ni pensamos en el futuro
ni en despedidas ni en desencuentros

no hablamos del amor
nunca

jamás se nos ocurrió

no hablamos del amor
nunca
si acaso lo pensamos
-alguna vez-
fue cuando nos separamos.

We did not talk about love
never
we leave that to others
we lived in a closer place
more mundane and jollier

we did not talk about love
never
we lived inside the joyous song
of the river stream
inside the playful water and the laugh

we did not talk about love
never
we did not think about the future
nor about farewells

we did not talk about love
never

it never occurred to us

we did not talk about love
never
if we ever thought about it
was when we broke apart.

Approach / Acércate

Approach my ocean bravely.
Your sails: sink them.
Your compass: twist it.
Your charts: burn them.
Hold your breath:
only mermaids allowed.

Approach my terra lightly.
Your geographical knowledge: ignore it.
Your guiding stars: rearrange them.
Release your breath,
get drunk with air.

Approach my depths gleefully.
Your weight: buoy it up.
Your wings: unfold them.
Keep holding your breath:
we are almost at the bottom.

Approach our skies rampantly.
Our solar system: untamed.
Our universes´ origins: unquestioned.
Our big bang: awaited.
No gravitational pull.

Acércate a mi océano valientemente.
Tus velas: húndelas.
Tu brújula: retuércela.
Tus mapas: quémalos.
Sostén el aliento:
Solo se aceptan sirenas.

Acércate a mi terra ligeramente.
Tu conocimiento geográfico: ignóralo.
Tus estrellas guía: reacomódalas.
Suelta el aliento,
emborráchate con el aire.

Acércate a mis profundidades alegremente.
Tu peso: flótalo.
Tus alas: desenvuélvelas.
Sigue conteniendo el aliento:
casi estamos en el fondo.

Acércate a nuestro cielo desenfrenadamente.
Nuestro sistema solar: indomable.
El origen de nuestro universo: incuestionable.
Nuestro big bang: esperado.
No hay fuerza de gravedad.

Mariana

se cuenta una historia
la historia de Mariana
ella no espera a ninguno
de los sabios mediocres
biógrafos psicoanalistas

ella sabe la historia de Mariana
y se habla y se escucha
y escucha las palabras
de los sabios del aguacero
el monte y el riachuelo

ella se lee a sí misma
y Mariana no se cansa
de buscar y buscar
de leerse en nocturnos y diurnos
en prosa y en verso

Mariana Marianita
de la hierba y los pólipos
del cielo y el desierto
guarda unas palabras
dulces leyendas solo
para mariana

Mariana Marianita
no te olvides nunca
de seguir contándote
no te olvides nunca
de guardar unas palabras
para mi, Mariana.

Mariana
tells herself a story
Mariana’s story
she waits for none
of the lousy wise men
psychoanalysts and biographers

she knows Mariana’s story
and she speaks and listens to herself
and listen to the words
of the rain’s wise men
the mountain’s and the stream’s

she reads herself
and Mariana does not gets tired
of searching and searching
tired of reading herself in nocturnes and diurnals

Mariana little Mariana
who belongs to the herb and the polyps
who belongs to the sky and the desert
who keeps words
and sweet stories only
for Mariana

Mariana little Mariana
never forget to
keep telling me
never forget to
keep some words
for me, Mariana.
